Vijayawada: With the formation of the new NTR Zilla Parishad, district election authorities have stepped up preparations for elections to Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies (MPTCs) across 16 mandals. According to district officials, the final electoral rolls have been published and made available at all mandal headquarters. The district has 8,35,515 registered voters, comprising 4,28,594 women, 4,06,889 men and 32 third-gender voters. Vijayawada Rural mandal has the highest number of voters at 1,46,890, while Ibrahimpatnam has the lowest at 33,759.

The authorities have identified 992 polling stations and are inspecting the availability of essential facilities, including drinking water, electricity, toilets, furniture and ramps for persons with disabilities. A total of 3,321 ballot boxes have been kept ready, comprising 3,191 large, 127 medium and three small boxes.

Election materials, including 900 reams of 75 GSM paper in pink and white shades and 4,115 green paper seals, have been procured from the Government Regional Printing Press in Kurnool. As many as 7,190 polling personnel have been selected for election duties. The arrangements include 16 Returning Officers (ROs), 32 Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), 1,190 Presiding Officers and 5,952 other polling officers to be appointed, besides a 20% reserve staff contingent. Revenue and police officials are coordinating to identify sensitive and hyper-sensitive polling stations and ensure adequate security. A dedicated control room has also been established to receive election-related grievances. Nominations for ZPTC seats will be received at the Krishna Zilla Parishad office in Machilipatnam, while nominations for MPTC seats will be accepted at the respective Mandal Praja Parishad offices. Voters in NTR district will elect 16 ZPTC members and 280 MPTC members.

Vijayawada Rural leads the district with 40 MPTC segments and 1,46,890 voters. Gampalagudem, Kanchikacherla and Jaggayyapeta have 20 seats each, with 58,911, 56,683 and 54,845 voters respectively. Mylavaram has 19 seats and 54,728 voters, while Vatsavai has 18 seats and 50,450 voters.

Chandarlapadu and Vissannapeta have 17 seats each, with 49,109 and 46,995 voters respectively. G Konduru has 16 seats and 48,210 voters, while Penuganchiprolu has 15 seats and 38,713 voters. Veerullapadu, Nandigama and A Konduru have 14 seats each, with 40,697, 39,224 and 39,162 voters respectively. Reddigudem has 13 seats and 42,165 voters, while Tiruvuru has 12 seats and 34,674 voters. Ibrahimpatnam has the lowest allocation, with 11 MPTC seats and 33,759 voters. The district has a total of 280 MPTC segments and 16 ZPTC segments across the 16 mandals. Preparations are underway covering electoral rolls, polling infrastructure, election materials, personnel deployment and security ahead of the announcement of the election schedule.
