Vijayawada: Bharata Chaitanya Yuvajana (BCY) Party founder and national president Bode Ramachandra Yadav accused the ruling TDP of resorting to alleged irregularities in the ongoing local body elections, claiming that its actions resembled ‘YSRCP Version 2.0’.

In a statement issued here on Monday, he criticised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu over the alleged attacks on the democratic process and accused YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of remaining away from the State instead of responding to the developments. Yadav alleged that the ruling party was resorting to intimidation because it lacked the confidence to seek votes on its performance. He also criticised the State Election Commission (SEC), alleging that it was applying different standards in different places.

Citing Mydukur in Kadapa district and Kanigiri in Prakasam district, he questioned why polling was postponed in Mydukur following allegations of nomination papers being torn, while no similar action was taken in Kanigiri, where he alleged that the nomination papers of a BCY candidate for municipal chairperson were torn in public.

Ramachandra Yadav said a report had been sent by Markapuram district administration but questioned why the election process in Kanigiri had not been cancelled and a fresh notification issued.
