Rowdy sheets ordered against 51 in TDP office attack case
Vijayawada: NTR district police commissioner SV Rajasekhar Babu has directed the opening of rowdy sheets against 51 accused persons from the district in connection with the attack on the TDP central office at Mangalagiri in 2021.
The CP communicated the directions through memos issued to the station house officers (SHOs) of nine police stations under the NTR district police commissionerate on Wednesday. The SHOs were instructed to open rowdy sheets against the accused residing within their respective jurisdictions and submit compliance reports. The list includes YSRCP MLC Talasila Raghuram, party NTR district president Devineni Avinash, former VMC deputy mayors Venkata Satyanarayana and Kalapala Ambedkar, former deputy mayor Avuthu Sri Sailaja’s husband Avuthu Srinivas Reddy, and several other party leaders and former corporators. The action covers accused persons against whom cases were registered in connection with the TDP office attack and who are residents of the NTR commissionerate limits.
The case relates to the attack on the TDP central office at Mangalagiri on October 19, 2021. It was registered as Crime No. 650/2021 at Mangalagiri Rural police station under Sections 147, 148, 323, 324, 326, 307, 380, 427, 450, 452 and 506 read with Sections 109, 120-B and 149 of the IPC. The police have instructed the SHOs of Bhavanipuram, Ajith Singh Nagar, Nunna Rural (Payakapuram), Krishnalanka, Machavaram, Patamata, Governorpet, Gunadala and Satyanarayanapuram police stations to initiate the rowdy-sheet process against the accused falling under their respective jurisdictions.
The assistant commissioners of police (ACPs) of the Vijayawada West, North, South and Central Law and Order divisions have also been directed to personally monitor the process and ensure compliance with the CP’s orders. According to police officials, of the 51 accused, 19 obtained anticipatory bail without being arrested, while two others are absconding. Police have served notices on MLC Talasila Raghuram, Devineni Avinash and Oggu Gavaskar. Around 13 accused were arrested during July and September 2024 and sent to judicial remand. The police did not disclose the status of the remaining 14 accused. The case has witnessed renewed investigation in recent years, with police examining evidence and pursuing further proceedings against several accused.
