Vijayawada: With President Droupadi Murmu scheduled to visit the district on October 14 and 15, Krishna district collector DK Balaji directed officials to make foolproof arrangements for her visit.

The collector, accompanied by District Superintendent of Police (SP) V Vidyasagar Naidu and other officials, inspected Gannavaram International Airport on Thursday and reviewed the arrangements at the international terminal. The review covered law and order, police security, protocol, power supply, fire safety, transport, medical services, food safety, sanitation, drinking water, communication and airport security.

Collector Balaji directed the SP to ensure tight security at the airport, surrounding areas, routes to be used by the President and parking areas. He instructed the police and other departments to coordinate closely on advance checks, traffic regulation, vehicle movement and parking arrangements. He directed APCPDCL officials to ensure uninterrupted power supply at the terminal, green rooms, security areas and parking zones, with generators and additional personnel kept ready as a backup.

The collector inspected the green rooms being arranged for the President, senior officials and accompanying staff and directed officials to ensure adequate facilities, security, electricity, drinking water and sanitation. Fire tenders, personnel and equipment should be positioned in advance at key locations, he said. He also directed protocol, police and transport officials to coordinate vehicle movement, routes and parking. Food Safety officials were asked to ensure the quality and hygiene food served to the President and accompanying personnel.

Medical teams, ambulances and emergency equipment should be kept ready, while sanitation and drinking water arrangements at the airport and along the routes should be monitored continuously, he said. Balaji stressed that all departments should complete their assigned responsibilities in advance and personally inspect the arrangements to ensure a smooth and secure visit.

Gudivada RDO G Balasubramanyam, Airport Director K Lakshmikantha Reddy, Airport CSO K Dharmendra, Intelligence Officer Chappidi Raja, NHAI PD Vidyasagar, Special Branch CI Satya Kishore and officials from various departments attended the review.
