Vijayawada: Poets stress need to preserve pristine environ, ecology

Vijayawada: "The sweet presence of the trees make the earth a beautiful poem," said Kolakaluri Enoch, noted poet, writer, novelist, recipient of prestigious Murthy Devi Puraskar and former vice-chancellor of Sri Krishna Devaraya University.

As the chief guest, he was addressing the valedictory session of the Amaravati Poetic Prism (APP) – 2020 organised by CCVA in collaboration with Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Telugu (CIIL), Departments of Language and Culture of the Governments of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana held here on Sunday.

Dr Venna Vallabha Rao, IG Killada Satyanarayana, Dr Y Tejaswini, chairperson, CCVA participated as distinguished guests of the valedictory session. The second day proceedings of the poets' meet were started by Vishnu Pandya, chairman of the Gujarati Sahitya Akademi, with her statement that poets are instrumental in creating healthy atmosphere in the societies worldwide.

Dr D Vizaibhaskar, convener of the meeting presented the report saying that more than 85 poets from different parts of the world recited their poems in their own languages and in English on the theme 'Environment and Ecology' in eight sessions. The poets exchanged their views during the breakout slots in all the sessions.

Poets Kopparthi Venkata Ramana Murthy, Bandla Madhava Rao, Elizabeth Kurian Mona, Dr Madhurantakam Narendra, Satish Chandar, Delo Isufi and Edward Roberts chaired the sessions and conducted the proceedings. The poetry echoed on the need to preserve the pristine environment and ecology for the betterment of the mankind.

Dr E Siva Nagi Reddy, CEO of the CCVA and advisor of the meet thanked the poets for their participation even during the Covid–19 pandemic.

Sandeep Mandava, CEO of Malaxmi Properties felicitated Dr D Vizaibhaskar. The two-day international multilingual poets meet ended with musical treat by Sridhar Jayram, a vocalist from Vijayawada.
