Visakhapatnam: Demonstrating innovative technical skills and teamwork, third-year EEE students, guided by faculty members, designed an advanced multi-utility robot ‘AURA’.

Guided by faculty members from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) at Sri Sivani College of Engineering, Chilakapalem in Srikakulam district, the robot was designed, conceptualised and completed in just two days.

What makes AURA (Advance Utility Rescue Assistant) unique is its advanced features, including a Wi-Fi-enabled mobile-controlled fire extinguisher system to handle emergency situations and rescue operations.

Designed primarily to greet and welcome college management members, chief guests, and dignitaries during special campus events and occasions, AURA also assists during emergencies and rescue operations using mobile phone-based instructions and monitoring.

Spearheaded by Assistant Professor and researcher in the electrical and electronics engineering (EEE) department Maheswaram Bhanu Chandhar, the project was undertaken in collaboration with N Naga Srinivas from the computer science and engineering (CSE) Department.

Combining hardware proficiency with wireless software integration, the project highlights the strength of cross-departmental technical synergy at the institution.

Third year EEE students Dumpa Amrutha, Gunda Bhagya Laxmi and Lukalapu Pavani teamed up for designing the hardware, assembling and executing the project. College management and faculty members lauded the student-faculty collaboration for creating a cost-effective, multi-purpose automated solution following strict timelines.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bhanu Chandhar mentioned that initiatives such as AURA not only bring out innovativeness among students but also aid in working on safety applications, inspiring young engineers to resolve real-world problems through hands-on fabrication and prototyping.
