Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) inaugurated a new public toilet at the busy Maddilapalem junction.

Inaugurating it here on Wednesday, GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg directed the staff to maintain the facility well for the public.

Constructed at a cost of Rs.30 lakh under a build, operate and transfer model, the facility was built in collaboration with the GVMC in the east zone.After inspecting the public toilet facilities, the Commissioner mentioned that Maddilapalem junction sees continuous movement of many buses from different parts of the city and the facility would be highly useful to the general public.

Ketan Garg directed representatives of Lotus International to maintain it well, prioritising cleanliness, ensuring that the urinals, toilets and bathing areas are cleaned regularly so users do not face inconvenience. He suggested that the user charges should be prominently displayed at the facility.

Lotus International founder Saraj Kumar informed that the eight-cubicled public toilet, including a specially-designed cubicle, dedicated for men and women and disabled persons will remain open to the public every day from 4 am to 10 pm.
