Visakhapatnam: Accompanied by an army of alliance leaders, TDP Mayor candidate Mukka Sravani filed her nomination for the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) polls in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. After filing her nomination, Sravani said that the party recognised her dedication and commitment. She expressed gratitude to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for reposing faith in her and giving her a great opportunity to contest as Mayor. “Apart from gaining a grip over local issues, I share a good rapport with the people. With the support of the public representatives, I will strive hard to develop Greater Visakhapatnam even further,” Sravani assured.

Extending his support to Sravani, Visakhapatnam Member of Parliament M. Sribharat expressed confidence that her leadership would help advance the city’s development in line with the aspirations and needs of its people. The MP informed that Sravani was selected after considering the views and suggestions of alliance leaders, MLAs and constituency in-charges. Highlighting Visakhapatnam’s growing industrial and economic importance, Sribharat emphasised the need for capable and accountable leadership to manage GVMC, which has an annual budget of approximately Rs.4,000 crore. He said the city’s administration must prioritise public needs and function with transparency, integrity and decisive leadership.

Speaking on the occasion, Telugu Desam Party state president Palla Srinivasa Rao mentioned that the coalition government will work with an aim of promoting women for their dedication and commitment. Stating that Sravani’s experience as a corporator will come in handy for her Mayoral polls, the MLA stated that Sravani will focus on developing Visakhapatnam city, which is recognised as a global city.

MLC Vepada Chiranjeevi Rao urged the people to elect honest candidates like Sravani instead of leaders who exploit, so that Visakhapatnam’s brand image is not impacted. He appealed to the people to vote after analysing the three years of NDA rule compared with the last five years of YSRCP’s rule. Visakhapatnam South constituency MLA CH Vamsi Krishna Srinivas Yadav stated that the voters would give a larger majority to the candidates than the results given in the general elections. West constituency MLA PGVR Naidu (Ganababu) said that if the leaders, people and the government work with a sole ideology, the state and the city will develop and educated people will be the key to that.
