Visakhapatnam: The city police arrested two persons allegedly involved in hawala case and seized unaccounted cash to the tune of Rs 70 lakh.

Briefing media here on Sunday, Assistant Commissioner of Police (East) SR Harshita said Roshan Kumar Jain and O Srinivas were taken into custody on Saturday. Based on reliable information, the III town CI K Eswara Rao, SI J Dharmendra and other staff conducted vehicle check at Telugu Talli flyover on Saturday evening. They found two bags with Rs 70 lakh unaccounted cash in the car.

When questioned, the duo failed to show relevant documents for the cash carried. Police took both into custody. Their car and the mobile phones were also seized. The ACP explained Roshan Kumar Jain and his partner Charitra Kumar were running an electrical shop at Rama Talkies junction.

On Saturday, Roshan Kumar with his friend Srinivas went to Autonagar in Gajuwaka and met a glass factory owner Vikram and showed a serial number on a Rs 10 note through the mobile phone before collecting the cash from the glass factory owner. According to the ACP, the two friends were reportedly involved in the hawala case and were collecting commission

for the transaction. Investigation is on.
