Hanumakonda: BRS MLA Palla Rajeshwar Reddy has accused the Congress party of suppressing the Opposition by using police force and not allowing them to raise people’s issue in the Assembly.
He said suspending Opposition MLAs without giving them a chance to speak on public issues in the Assembly and preventing them from entering the House with heavy police force is against democracy.
He said that he had lodged a complaint with the National Commission for Women and the National Human Rights Commission in Delhi on Friday regarding the attack on women MLAs and the violation of the rights of MLAs.
BRS MLAs Sabita Indra Reddy, Sunita Lakshma Reddy, Kova Lakshmi, former ministers Satyavathi Rathod, Jagadish Reddy, MLC Vani Devi, former corporation chairman Soma Bharath along with Palla Rajeshwar Reddy met the representatives of the commissions.
He demanded that the government must explain why special forces like Greyhounds, Task Force and Octopus were deployed along with regular police to stop BRs legislators from entering the Assembly.
He questioned how reasonable it was to stop them on the road even after they came out, without giving them the opportunity to speak in the Assembly.
Palla accused that the Opposition MLAs were prevented from raising issues like 22A lands, irregularities in land registrations, problems of polytechnic students, fee reimbursement arrears and farmers’ issues in the assembly.
He said that lakhs of students are facing difficulties due to non-release of fee reimbursement funds for the last three years, and that they were suspended out of fear of being questioned about the fee arrears of nearly 30 lakh students.
They said that four to five cases are being filed against them every day, and that registering illegal and reverse cases to suppress the opposition who are questioning them is not good for democracy.
Palla said that it is not right to stop even senior representatives with 30 years of political experience on the road.
He accused that male policemen are being deliberately created in front of women MLAs and female policemen in front of male MLAs. He said that it is not right to use police force against opposition leaders, students, farmers and workers without focusing on controlling crime in the state.
Palla said that democracy cannot be weakened by suppressing the voices of the opposition and engaging in undemocratic actions. He stated that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi will continue to fight on public issues, that the people will not tolerate the government’s undemocratic actions, and that the people themselves will make the appropriate judgment at the appropriate time.
