WARANGAL: Mahabubabad district police have recovered 2,027 lost and stolen mobile phones so far by effectively using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, Superintendent of Police Dr Sharish, IPS, said.
As part of the latest drive, the SP handed over 77 recovered mobile phones to their owners at the conference hall of the Mahabubabad Town Police Station on Tuesday. The beneficiaries thanked the police for helping them retrieve their phones.
Advanced technology used
Speaking on the occasion, SP Sharish said the police were analysing technical information available through the CEIR portal to trace lost and stolen mobile phones being used in different areas.
He advised people to lodge a complaint at the nearest police station immediately after losing a mobile phone or if it was stolen. They should provide details such as the phone’s IMEI number and mobile number to the police.
The CEIR portal enables the police to block lost or stolen mobile phones and trace them by analysing available technical information, he explained.
Team effort appreciated
The SP said the Mahabubabad DSP, CCS Inspector Hateeram, IT Cell SI G.V. Krishna Reddy, PC Suman, SHOs of all police stations and CEIR operators played a key role in the recovery operation under his guidance.
He urged people to inform the police without delay and make use of CEIR services. The district police would continue using advanced technology to trace and return lost and stolen mobile phones as part of their efforts to protect public property, he added.
