WARANGAL: A major fire broke out at a plastic scrap godown in Balaji Nagar, near Enumamula Agricultural Market, in Greater Warangal on Sunday, triggering panic among local residents as dense smoke spread across the area.
The blaze erupted suddenly at the Sai Plastic Scrap godown, located opposite Enumamula Market near Chandrakiran Cold Storage in the 14th division of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation. Flames spread rapidly due to the plastic scrap stored at the site, while thick smoke enveloped nearby localities.
MLA inspects site
Wardhannapet MLA and retired IPS officer KR Nagaraju rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. He inspected the fire-hit godown, reviewed the situation, and enquired with officials and local residents about the possible cause of the blaze and the measures taken by fire personnel.
The MLA also sought details about the damage caused by the fire and the difficulties faced by residents in surrounding areas. He directed officials to give top priority to public safety while carrying out firefighting and relief operations.
Safety measures sought
Nagaraju instructed officials to ensure strict compliance with fire safety norms at scrap godowns and industrial units. He stressed the need for preventive measures to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future.
Fire service teams reached the spot promptly and launched dousing operations using multiple fire engines. Officials said the exact cause of the fire and the extent of property damage were yet to be ascertained.
Division president Syed Intiaz, district SC Cell chairman Siluveru Srinivas, and local leaders Shankar, Kumar, Ravi, Javid and Rajesh were present during the inspection.
