WARANGAL: A tragic incident was reported at Pakhal Lake in Warangal district on Saturday, where a woman allegedly died by suicide along with her two young daughters. The incident has created shock and concern in the locality.
According to preliminary information, Mamatha, a native of Elukurthy Haveli village in Geesukonda mandal, had entered into an inter-caste marriage with Eerelli Suman, also from the same village. The couple had two daughters.
Family disputes reportedly arose after allegations that Suman was having an extramarital affair with another woman. The couple reportedly had frequent quarrels over the issue. A panchayat was also reportedly held in the presence of village elders about a week ago to resolve the dispute.
However, as the family issues remained unresolved, Mamatha was reportedly under severe mental distress. On Saturday morning, she reached Pakhal Lake along with her two daughters. She is said to have taken a ticket, gone to the boating area, and allegedly died by suicide along with the children at the spot.
Pakhal Lake is located about 35 km from Mamatha’s native village, Elukurthy Haveli. Police are investigating how and when she reached the lake and the circumstances surrounding her travel.
On receiving information, East Zone DCP Ankit Kumar, Duggondi CI Shankaraiah, and Khanapuram SI Rammohan, along with police personnel, reached the spot and launched an investigation. Police are collecting details regarding the circumstances that led to the incident and the allegations of family disputes.
Further details about the incident and the condition of the deceased are yet to be officially confirmed.
