MP Vaddiraju condemns arrest of BRS MLCs, demands immediate release

KHAMMAM: BRS Rajya Sabha MP and Parliamentary Party leader Vaddiraju Ravichandra on Tuesday strongly condemned the arrest of party MLCs T Madhusudan (Tata Madhu) and Naveen Kumar Reddy, terming it an attack on democracy.

In a statement, Ravichandra alleged that “undemocratic and authoritarian rule” was prevailing in Telangana and accused the ruling dispensation of targeting those who questioned the government by filing cases against them and sending them to jail.

He alleged that the government was resorting to “conspiratorial politics” to divert public attention as it was unable to implement the promises made to the people and answer questions raised by MLAs and MLCs.

With growing public opposition to the ruling party and increasing support for the BRS among various sections, the government was using the police to suppress the opposition, he alleged.

Ravichandra said the arrest of the two MLCs while the Assembly was in session was “unjust and illegal” and demanded that the cases registered against them be withdrawn immediately and that both leaders be released without delay.

The BRS leader said the government should focus on addressing public issues rather than resorting to political vendetta against opposition leaders.
