Organises ‘Save Democracy Yatra’, call for protection of voting rights
Warangal: The Congress party conducted a ‘Save Democracy Yatra’ in Warangal on Tuesday, demanding the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar from office. The programme was organised by the Warangal District Congress Committee in response to the call given by the AICC and TPCC. The yatra began at Pochamma Maidan Junction and proceeded towards the statue of Dr BR Ambedkar at Kashibugga. A large number of Congress leaders and workers participated in the protest. The participants also burnt an effigy, raising slogans against the functioning of the Election Commission.
Congress leaders said the party would continue its struggle to safeguard democracy and protect citizens’ right to vote. Parkal MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy, Wardhannapet MLA KR Nagaraju, Palakurthi MLA Yashaswini Reddy, MD Ayub, Jhansi Reddy and Gundu Sudharani attended the programme.
