WARANGAL: National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) member Jatoth Hussain Naik has sought a thorough inquiry into alleged encroachments of land belonging to the Mamunur airport and called for prompt action to resolve land issues concerning Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities.
Speaking to the media at Mamunur airport on Thursday, Hussain Naik said the Commission had received complaints relating to SC and ST land issues. He said a review meeting was held with the concerned officials, and an investigation has been ordered into the grievances.
He said steps are being taken to resolve disputes involving land claimed by members of the SC and ST communities in connection with the Mamunur airport. Hussain Naik directed officials to conduct a comprehensive probe into the complaints received by the Commission and ensure justice to the affected persons without keeping the matters pending.
Airport Revival Welcomed
The NCST member said Mamunur airport holds key importance for Telangana after Shamshabad airport. He noted that the airport, established during the Nizam era, had remained closed for some time, and expressed happiness that arrangements are now under way for its redevelopment.
He described the revival of the airport as a positive development for the people of the erstwhile united Warangal district. The State government has already handed over land for the project, with reports indicating that around 950 acres have been assigned for the airport’s development.
Officials’ Negligence Alleged
Hussain Naik alleged that airport land had come under encroachment and attributed it to the negligence of airport authorities. He demanded a detailed investigation into the issue and appropriate action against those responsible.
He further said that complaints received by the Commission should be resolved at the earliest, and that officials must not delay action in matters concerning SC and ST land rights.
