Hanumakonda: Former Deputy Chief Minister and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari has called for developing the Station Ghanpur Government Degree College into a reputed educational institution in Telangana by providing quality education, modern laboratories, a well-equipped library and improved infrastructure.
Mr Srihari attended the ground-breaking ceremony for the new college building on Thursday and unveiled the foundation stone. He said sanctioning the college was one of his election promises and that he had pursued the proposal with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to make higher education accessible to students from economically weaker sections. He said Rs 8.60 crore had been sanctioned through GVO No. 48, issued on March 22, 2025. Of this, Rs 6.10 crore was earmarked for the building and Rs 2.50 crore for salaries and other requirements. He directed officials and the contractor to expedite construction and complete the building by August 1, 2027. He also called for preparing proposals for additional floors and urged authorities to establish laboratories and library facilities at the earliest. Mr Srihari said Rs 23 lakh had already been sanctioned from DMFT funds for a computer laboratory and stressed the need to maintain high academic standards alongside infrastructure development.
