A day of development, modern connectivity and major milestones, says Gujarat CM ahead of PM's visit

Vadodara: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Gujarat on Tuesday drew a strong public response in Vadodara, where preparations are underway for a programme centred on development projects, connectivity and an interaction with young people, before he is scheduled to travel to Navsari to inaugurate the BJP’s new district office, 'Namo Kamalam’.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel welcomed PM Modi’s arrival, describing Gujarat as being “buzzing with energy” ahead of what he called a day of development, modern connectivity and major milestones.

In a post on social media platform X, Patel said: "With clean streets, green spaces, and incredible vibes, the people of Gujarat welcome our visionary leader with immense pride and passion. Welcome home!"

Ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival in Vadodara, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi led a foot march from Kala Ghoda Circle to the rally venue. Participants carried placards during the march as preparations continued for the programme.

BJP MP Hemang Joshi said the Prime Minister’s visit is a matter of “great joy” and that him visiting Vadodara to present several development projects. “The programme organised today is truly unprecedented,” Joshi said.

Several local residents also spoke about their expectations from the visit. One resident said there is “immense enthusiasm” and that a large crowd had gathered to see PM Modi.

The Vadodara programme is part of a wider infrastructure push, with PM Modi scheduled to inaugurate, dedicate or lay the foundation stones for projects worth more than Rs 35,000 crore.

These include three sections of the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor, covering 326 route kilometres and costing more than Rs 20,700 crore.

Their commissioning will make the DFC network fully operational across its entire length.

The Prime Minister is also scheduled to dedicate the Jobat-Tanda Road rail line, lay foundation stones for three railway projects covering 329 km and costing more than Rs 9,700 crore, and launch three National Highway projects worth around Rs 1,780 crore.

State government projects worth about Rs 2,600 crore, including the Vadodara ring road’s second phase and a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam, are also part of the programme.

Later, PM Modi is scheduled to travel to Navsari to inaugurate the newly-constructed ‘Namo Kamalam’ office of the BJP’s Navsari district unit.

The technology-enabled office has been designed with digital spaces and infrastructure intended to support organisational work and public outreach.

The programme is also scheduled to be livestreamed at locations across the district.

The Gujarat visit comes as the Prime Minister undertakes a day-long tour of Gujarat and Maharashtra, with his final engagement scheduled in Mumbai at the Global Fintech Fest 2026.
