Gurugram Hit-And-Run: Woman Biker Questions Driver’s Decision To Flee After Collision

Gurugram biker Sia has responded to Kalyan Bainsla, the man accused of hitting her motorcycle on Golf Course Road, after his claim that the collision was not intentional. Sia has asked the question that why Bainsla had fled from the spot if he was truly worried about her in a video message posted on Instagram.

Sia Challenges Driver’s Version

In an earlier interview with media, Bainsla had claimed that he was not deliberately crashing into Sia's motorcycle and believed that the accident was "unintended". He said it was hard to determine what was going on because a large number of bikers had been changing their speed and slowing down on the road over and over again.

Sia denied he was speeding and said even if he was speeding up, he could not have been rightfully following her and colliding with her bike.

She also rejected Bainsla’s claim that he did not realise a woman was riding the bike. According to Sia, he had noticed her from behind, chased her and asked her to stop before the collision occurred.

‘Why Did He Flee?’

A key point raised by Sia was Bainsla’s decision to leave the scene.

She questioned why someone who claimed to be sympathetic towards her would not have stopped, got out of the car and checked whether she needed medical assistance.

According to Sia, the available videos show the car moving across lanes before striking her motorcycle and leaving the scene without stopping.

She said the collision could have resulted in much more serious injuries and that even a small difference in timing could have had fatal consequences.

Sia further said incidents of this nature make women feel unsafe while travelling on roads in Gurugram and Delhi.

Bainsla Questions Viral Videos

Bainsla has also questioned the completeness of the footage circulating online. He claimed that the viral clips did not show the entire sequence of events and questioned why only two videos had been released.

He also alleged that there were more than 20 bikers involved and claimed that the bikers had repeatedly overtaken him and slowed down.

However, Sia maintained that the available footage was sufficient to establish what happened during the collision. She pointed to two separate camera angles that, according to her, show the car changing lanes, striking her motorcycle and subsequently leaving.

Police Register FIR

The incident occurred on Sunday morning on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road while Sia was riding with other bikers. She was injured after a white sedan collided with her motorcycle.

Footage recorded by an action camera mounted on her superbike subsequently went viral on social media.

Gurugram Police took suo motu cognisance of the incident and an FIR was registered against an unidentified person. Sia has also said she will “take legal action” as a result of the incident.

As of September 15, Kalyan Bainsla had not been arrested. The accounts of the incident presented by Sia and Bainsla differ substantially, and the police investigation is expected to establish the circumstances leading to the collision.
