LK Advani, Manish Sisodia Among Delhi Voters Served SIR Notices

BJP veteran LK Advani, former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and BJP MLA Kailash Gahlot are among several prominent voters who have received notices from election authorities during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the national capital.

The notices were to be issued "due to discrepancies found in voter's records," officials said. The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer's office on Friday released the list of voters who got late notices, almost three weeks after the draft electoral roll was published on August 31.

LK Advani, Family Members Flagged For ‘No Mapping’

LK Advani, along with his daughter Pratibha Advani and daughter-in-law Geetika, has been issued notices under the “no mapping” category.

The category includes electors whose entries on the electoral register were not matched with the electorate of the last update to the electoral registers.

Aam Aadmi Party minister who joined the BJP and became an MLA Kailash Gahlot has also been tagged under the same category.

His wife, Moushumi Mishra Gahlot, and elder daughter, Jahnavi Gahlot, have also received notices citing “no mapping”.

Manish Sisodia, Wife And Son Also On List

Former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, who is registered as a voter in the New Delhi Assembly constituency, has also been served an SIR notice. The specific discrepancy mentioned in his notice was not stated.

Sisodia’s wife, Seema, and son, Meer, have also been included in the list.

Seema has been flagged for a “self-name mismatch”, while Meer’s record has been marked for a “parent-name mismatch”.

An election official said prominent voters who received notices would be assisted during the verification process, with their required documents collected.

Several Other Political Figures Flagged

The list also includes several other well-known political figures, including Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Kapil Sibal, Subramanian Swamy, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj and former Delhi chief minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal.

Swamy reacted to the notice in a post on X, saying he found it surprising that election officials were under pressure to remove his name from the electoral roll. He said he intended to raise the matter and could approach the Supreme Court.

Sibal, speaking at a press conference on Sunday, also said the issue of names being removed from electoral rolls could eventually reach the Supreme Court.

Over 3.3 Million Electors Flagged

The notices are part of the larger SIR exercise in Delhi. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Arvind Kejriwal were among more than 3.16 million voters who were served notices over alleged discrepancies in their electoral records.

According to the figures cited by election authorities, 1,379,785 electors were placed in the “no mapping” category, while another 1,933,134 were identified as having “logical discrepancies”.

Together, the two categories account for 3,312,919 electors whose records have been flagged for verification during the ongoing revision process.
