To ensure the safety culture, quality consciousness, and adherence to prescribed standards in ongoing infrastructure development, Northern Railway conducted a comprehensive Safety & Quality Seminar-cum-Interaction Sessions for 225 months. The KV Overhead Equipment (OHE) is being upgraded through works.

Camps successfully held in Jalandhar, Ambala, Moradabad, and Lucknow during October 2026.

This initiative brought together 550 people including 42 officers the Central Region, 169 divisional TRD staff, 112 project unit staff (from the Ambala and Lucknow Electrification Project Units) and 227 contractor/agency staff.

Key Focus Areas.

Technical talks and interactive discussions were held during the sessions, which focused on crucial factors for ensuring the safe and quality execution of 225 kV upgradation projects, including:

Personnel safety involves taking general safety precautions, using PPE, ensuring safe working conditions, and preventing unsafe actions.

The safety of railway operations and infrastructure is ensured by the use of cranes, JCBs like igniting, discharging, and excavating near railway tracks, which safeguards the track's operation, S&T systems, etc.; and other railway assets.

In construction and erection, safety and quality are evaluated through inspection of foundation casting, mast forming, alignment, and grouting.

The safety of the erection, laying, and maintenance of Feeder Wire/AEC near the existing railway infrastructure, along with the activation of OHE, has been ensured through these works.

Preparation for adverse weather conditions, emergency response plans, accident reporting, and rescue arrangements are all part of the Emergency Preparedness Framework.

Clear understanding of the responsibilities, responsibility, and accountability of Railway officials/ Project Unit personnel/ Supervisors/ Contractor staff in ensuring safe and quality execution.

Sharing safety incidents, near misses, practical challenges, and lessons learned through experience helps identify potential hazards and prevent recurrence.

Outcomes & Way Forward.

The campaign emphasized that safety and quality are mutually determined.Background. The camps facilitated interaction between Railway officials, project units and contracting agencies to promote proactive risk assessment (hazard identification), strict technical follow-up with ongoing field incidents, and learning.

Northern Railway remains committed to ensuring the systematic delivery of critical infrastructure projects, with a focus on personnel safety and uninterrupted train operations, as well as asset protection and maintenance.
