New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, hailed the contribution of corona warriors against the COVID-19 pandemic. PM Modi pointed out that the medical community and corona warriors have been in the forefront of India's fight against the novel coronavirus.

PM Modi during his video-interaction on the occasion of the inauguration of the silver jubilee celebrations of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) on Monday morning emphasised that violence, abuse and rude behaviour against frontline workers fighting the COVID-19 battle is unacceptable. He added that while coronavirus may be an invisible enemy, our frontline warriors—our medical workers, are invincible. It is a battle which our medically community would eventually win, PM Modi said in his address. Addressing the medical community, PM Modi remarked that the world seeks both 'care' and 'cure' from it.

PM Modi compared doctors and medical workers to soldiers without the uniforms donned by military personnel. He reiterated the point that violence, abuse and rude behaviour against front-line workers is unacceptable. PM Modi observed that the entire world is looking up to our doctors, nurses, medical staff and scientific community with hope and gratitude.

PM Modi's remarks came as India opened up to a large extent in the first stage of its three-phase Unlock Plan. The country now stands 7th in the worldwide list of nations battling COVID-19. India is less than 10k shy of the 2 lakh mark in terms of total number of coronavirus cases.
