National Police Commemoration Day is observed on October 21 every year to pay tributes to police martyrs for who sacrificed their lives.

On this account, Prime Minister Narendra Modi advised the people to visit the National Police Museum, which was inaugurated by Narendra Modi in 2018 on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day. The prime minister urged the people salute police forces and their families.

In another tweet, the Prime minister wrote the museum is a place of inspiration and reminds the greatness of our police forces. The tweet Reads, "Last year, the National Police Memorial was dedicated to the nation. This Memorial is a place of inspiration and gratitude. It reminds us of the bravery of our police forces. History of Police Commemoration Day
It was on October 21, 1959, wherein the Chinese troops attacked twenty Indian soldiers in Ladakh, which led to the death of ten police officers. The seven were imprisoned and escaped from the Chinese forces. While on November 28, 1959, the bodies were handed over to India and the cremation was held with full Police honours at the Hot springs in Ladakh.
Hence, the day (October 21) is celebrated as Police Commemoration Day in remembrance of the Police martyrs.
