VDC member sustains gunshot injury in Udhampur; police attach terror handler’s property in Rajouri

Jammu: In a shocking incident, a Village Defence Committee (VDC) member sustained a gunshot injury on Tuesday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, while police attached property of a terror handler in Rajouri district.

Officials said that a VDC guard sustained a gunshot wound in his abdomen after his rifle went off accidentally in the Majalta area of Udhampur district on Tuesday morning.

“The VDC guard was injured after his rifle went off accidentally in Majalta, Udhampur, causing a gunshot wound in his abdomen," officials said.

He was soon shifted to a hospital for treatment, while his condition was not immediately known. He was later identified as Parshotam Lal, a resident of Chore Panjian in Majalta.

An investigation has begun, while the exact circumstances leading to the incident are being ascertained.

Meanwhile, in its strong action against terrorism and its support networks, Police Station Thanamandi has attached immovable property belonging to a terror handler in its jurisdiction. The property of Nazarat Hussain son of Mohd Sadiq resident of Niali Thanamandi has been formally attached as per legal provisions in Case FIR No. 04/2011 U/S 3/4 E&IMCO Act of PS Thanamandi.

The attached land comprises Khasra Nos. 33,34,39,51,52,53,58,59,60,65 and 89 measuring 01 Kanal and 2.5 Marlas having an approximate value of Rs 45 lakh.

During the proceedings, attachment boards were prominently installed on the said land in the presence of the authorities concerned and the police, marking the property as attached under law.

This action reflects the firm commitment of District Police Rajouri to dismantle the support structure of terrorism and to take strict legal action against individuals involved in anti-national activities.

In its aggressive operations against terrorists, their Over Ground Workers and sympathisers, the J&K Police has been attaching properties of such persons after obtaining orders from courts in J&K.

Properties are also attaches of terror handlers, who escaped the security forces and are now operating against India from across the border in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.
