Lucknow, September 29. The Yogi government’s digital initiative to provide better market information to farmers and make the mandi system more transparent has received new impetus. All 251 agricultural produce mandis of Uttar Pradesh are now connected to the country’s agricultural market information network ‘Agmarknet 2.0’.

With the completion of API-based integration of the Uttar Pradesh Mandi Parishad’s e-Mandi portal with Agmarknet 2.0, 100 percent market reporting from all mandis in the state has been ensured.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, has appreciated this achievement of the Mandi Parishad.

The Yogi government is working towards maximising the use of technology in the state’s mandi system to facilitate access to services and market information for farmers and traders. Through the e-Mandi system, various processes of mandis have been brought onto a digital platform. Now, with its integration with the National Agricultural Market Information Network, the prices and arrival data of agricultural produce recorded in the mandis of Uttar Pradesh are becoming available at the national level.

The most important benefit of the integration of all 251 mandis will be the availability of comprehensive market information to farmers. Information on the prices of agricultural produce and the quantity of arrivals in different mandis will enable farmers to understand market trends and make better decisions related to the marketing of their produce. The wider availability of price and arrival data will enhance transparency in the agricultural market. Traders will also find it easier to understand the situation in different markets.

At the same time, more systematic data will be available for analysing agricultural market trends and taking policy decisions. The availability of comparative data on prices and arrivals will also make it easier for farmers to understand the situation in different markets.

Jitendra Pratap Singh, Director, Uttar Pradesh Mandi Parishad, said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, continuous efforts are being made to make the state’s mandi system more transparent and farmer-friendly through technology. The real benefit of technology is realised only when accurate market information reaches farmers at the right time.

With all 251 mandis connected to Agmarknet 2.0, the seamless flow of price and arrival information has been ensured. This will help farmers understand the market situation and make better decisions related to the marketing of their produce.

Along with the technical integration with Agmarknet 2.0, ensuring 100 percent market reporting from all 251 mandis of the state is also an important achievement. Ensuring regular and 100 percent reporting across such a large mandi network reflects the effectiveness of the Mandi Parishad’s digital system and coordination at the field level.

Chinmay Gotmare, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, has appreciated the successful API integration of all 251 mandis and 100 percent market reporting.

He described it as the result of coordinated efforts by the Mandi Parishad, Mandi Committees, officials, the technical team and personnel working at the field level.

Agmarknet, meaning ‘Agricultural Marketing Information Network’, is the national digital platform of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Information related to the arrivals and market prices of various agricultural commodities in agricultural mandis across the country is available at one place on this platform.

Its objective is to provide reliable and timely market information to farmers, traders, policymakers and other stakeholders associated with the agricultural market.

Following the API-based integration of Uttar Pradesh’s e-Mandi portal, the price and arrival data recorded in the state’s mandis is being transmitted directly to this national platform through digital means.
