Bhubaneswar: The police have arrested a couple from Baleshwar district for allegedly duping an investor of Rs 1.26 crore with a false promise of high returns, an officer said.
The officers of the Cybercrime & Economic Offence police station, Sundaragada, arrested the man and his wife, both in their early 40s, from Baripada in Mayurbhanj district, Additional SP S N Samad said.
The couple had formed a company and opened their office at various places including Bhubaneswar. Through various schemes, they lured investors with a false promise of high returns.
“We have registered a case against the couple in April this year on the basis of a complaint lodged by a victim of Sundaragada,” police said.
Further investigation is underway to nab any other accused involved in the cyber fraud.
