Dhenkanal: The district administration has boosted preparations, including security, traffic control, fire safety, and civic amenities, for the Gajalakshmi Puja, which runs from October 25 until the immersion ceremony on November 4.

Collector Ashish Ishwar Patil directed departments to complete essential preparations during a review meeting at the District Collector’s Office for upcoming celebrations. Key directives included instructing TPCODL to ensure uninterrupted power and trim obstructing branches, ordering the R&B department to expedite repairs on roads leading to the Pallishree Mela ground, and tasking the Dhenkanal Municipality with covering open drains, improving street lighting, and installing welcome boards at the Korian and College bypasses.

The Fire Services department will provide mandatory fire extinguisher training to puja committee members, while the RTO and DIPRO will share regular media updates on traffic and alternative routes.

Northern Central Range DIG Ashish Kumar Singh and SP Ajinkya Baburao Mane stated that a smooth Gajalakshmi Puja relies on collective responsibility. They urged puja committees and the media to cooperate in maintaining law and order and ensuring public convenience. To improve visitor assistance and safety, the police administration will communicate in Odia, English, and Hindi, while the Collector will strictly enforce ride safety standards with fines or seizures for violators. Additionally, the Chief District Veterinary Officer will relocate stray cattle to nearby shelters.
