Held together by love reflects 22nd KIIT Convocation

In Short

Everything has been built and held together through love. While rules guide us and buildings shelter us, only love unites us in a bond that lives in every heart and cannot be broken.

My favorite convocation moment is watching a young graduate cross the stage while their mother quietly wipes away tears. In that quiet moment, I see everything we work for: the profound love and immense sacrifice of a family who gave everything to make this day possible. KIIT is celebrating its 22nd Annual Convocation from October 3 to 5, 2026, marking a monumental milestone for thousands of graduates and the families and teachers who supported them. What began as a humble endeavour has, by God’s grace, grown rapidly into an unimaginably vast institution.

Everything has been built and held together through love. While rules guide us and buildings shelter us, only love unites us in a bond that lives in every heart and cannot be broken. Guided by this lifelong belief, I do everything out of love, and it is through love that KIIT has achieved everything. Universities build both campuses and people, but while buildings stand for a century, people shape the future.

Academics, supported by world-class infrastructure, remain our core promise. From advanced labs and libraries to our tech incubator and AI-integrated curriculum, we provide everything students need to grow, innovate, and launch successful ventures. Our ultimate goal is for students to master technology wisely without losing their human values.

We view every student as a sacred trust, ensuring they transition successfully into meaningful careers. This year, our students secured over 5,500 job offers from more than 700 recruiters, bringing peace of mind to thousands of families. Through our dedicated tutor-mentor system and an approachable campus culture, we remain deeply student- and parent-friendly—ensuring no KIIT student ever feels alone, and no parent feels far away.

KIIT and KISS form a community of over 100,000 students and staff. To serve the region that nurtures them, the institutions are launching three love-driven keystone programmes. Earn While Learn provides students with weekend on-campus jobs for income and confidence. The Karmayogi Fellowship embeds young professionals in local communities for teaching and research. Finally, the Kommunity Engagement Programme sends students and faculty to over 5,000 Odisha villages to deliver health camps, education, and skill-building—putting love into action through service.

Through our Global Faculty and India Trek programmes, hundreds of international experts visit to teach and learn. We host over 2,000 international students from 70+ countries, while 350+ global institutional agreements and UN partnerships expand opportunities for local youth.

For an institution of this scale to flourish so quickly in Odisha is a humbling wonder. Our rapid growth succeeds because it is rooted deeply in our core values, our people, and shared love.

KIIT’s global and national rise is highlighted by our strong positions in the 2026 Times Higher Education rankings: the 501–600 global band (5th in India), 169th in Asia (6th in India), and 4th nationally for sustainability impact. Backed by an NAAC A++ grade, we are also ranked first in Odisha by QS Asia 2026 and 15th among Indian universities by NIRF 2024. We view these milestones not as trophies, but as the world returning our love.

Our students excel equally in the classroom and on the field. Supported by world-class sports infrastructure, KIIT has produced 24 Olympians, Khel Ratna, and Arjuna awardees. Building on a five-medal haul at the recent Commonwealth Games, a record 54 KIIT and KISS athletes are currently representing India at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games—already securing 21 medals thanks to their dedication and tireless coaching.

Our campus regularly welcomes diverse, distinguished national and international guests, including Nita M Ambani, whose supportive visits bring real happiness and renewed strength. At this Convocation, we look forward to honouring inspiring men and women who serve as role models for us all.

Graduates, as you leave with your degrees, live with both competence and compassion, because the world needs wisdom joined with love far more than cleverness.

KIIT was built and is carried forward entirely by the collective love of our faculty, students, parents, and well-wishers. I remain a humble servant, grateful for this bond, because love is the one foundation that never cracks. (The writer is the Founder of KIIT, KISS and KIMS, Bhubaneswar)
