Well, he started his political career in 1968 by getting elected as an MLC from INC. He also continued his winning streak for theMLC seat in 1974, 1980 and finally in 2009. He was also elected as an MLA from Chirala assembly constituency1989 and 2004. Rosaiah was also elected as an MP from Narasaraopet in 1998.

He also worked as the President of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) from 1994 to 1996.
His Strict Fiscal Management Principles
Rosaiah was very strict in following the fiscal management principles and this made the way for effective mobilization & utilization of government funds. Thus, he is recognized as the longest-serving finance minister of the state.
He Holds A Record For Presenting A Budget For 7 Times In A Row
Rosaiah presented the state budget for a total of 16 times including 7 times in a row. He worked under former Chief Ministers Marri Chenna Reddy, Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy, NedurumalliJanardhana Reddy and Y. S. Rajashekhara Reddy and handled many portfolios in their governments including Roads and Buildings, Housing, Transport and Home ministerial posts!

As A Chief Minister
After the sudden death of YS Rahashejar Reddy, Rosaiah took over the Chief Minister post of United AndhraPradesh in 2009 and strived to bring political stability to the state. He served the state as a Chief Minister for a total of 14 months i.e from 3rd September, 2009 to 24th November, 2010.
His Effective Management Skills As A Chief Minister
Well, during his Chief Ministerial period, the Telangana movement was in the peaks thus, he is often credited for his effective management skills for streamlining the budgetary management and welfare programs in that period.
His Resignation
Citing his health reasons, Rosaiah submitted his resignation to then Governor of Andhra Pradesh, ESL Narasimhan on 24 November 2010.
As A Governor
In 2011, Rosaiah was appointed as the governor of Tamil Nadu state by the Congress government i.e on 31st August, 2011 and completed 5 years term on 30th August, 2016! He was residing in Hyderabad till date.
Honours And Awards
Rosaiah was conferred with honorary doctorate by Andhra University in 2007.
His Demise
Mr. Rosaiah passed away on 4th December 2021 at 5:30 AM due to age-related health issues in Hyderabad at the age of 88. He is survived by 3 sons and a daughter!
