Pinarayi Vijayan (born 24 May 1945) is the current Chief Minister of Kerala, serving since May 25, 2016.
He is the longest-serving secretary of the Kerala State Committee of the CPI(M) from 1998 to 2015.
He worked as a handloom weaver for a year after graduating from high school.
Pinarayi Vijayan was awarded Gandhi Darshan award for best chief minister in 2018.
Pinarayi Vijayan was honoured in Baltimore, United States, by the Institute of Human Virology for his effective management of the 2018 Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala.
