List of Australia’s streaks that have been ended by Team India
India clinch series 2-1
The Indian team defeated Australia by three wickets in the fourth and final Test at the Gabba, Brisbane to seal the 2020-21 Border Gavaskar trophy 2-1.
India breach Aussies’ fortress in Brisbane
By winning the Test in Brisbane in the 2020-21 series, Team India have handed Australia their first Test loss at their fortress – Gabba – after 32 long years. Australia’s previous Test loss at the Gabba happened in 1989 against the West Indies.
2001 and 2008
With the victory in the Eden Gardens Test in 2001, India had ended Australia’s streak of 16 consecutive Test wins. India once again broke Aussies’ 16-Test win streak in 2008 by winning the Test in Perth.
WACA, 2008
With the 72-run victory in the Perth Test in 2008, India had become the first Asian side to win a Test at WACA and still remains the only Asian team to achieve the feat.
An ODI streak
When MS Dhoni-led India chased down Australia’s target of 331 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in 2016, the result had ended the Aussies’ streak of 19 consecutive ODI wins at home.
2018-19
During India’s previous tour of Down Under, Virat Kohli and Co etched history by defeating Australia 2-1 in the Test series and thereby had become the first-ever Asian team to register a Test series victory on Australian soil.
