DC had a terrible start as Boult removed Stoinis off the first ball of the first innings. He struck again in the third over as he dismissed Rahane. Dhawan got out of Jayant’s bowling, leaving DC at 22 for 3 in 3.3 overs.
Shreyas-Pant's stand
The duo put up 96 runs for the fourth wicket. DC captain Shreyas led from the front, top-scoring with 65 from 50, while Pant scored 38-ball 56.

Rohit: Captain’s knock
After Quinton’s dismissal in the 5th over, Rohit took the charge. He struck five fours and a six in his knock of 68 from 51 balls. The next best batsman for MI in the final was Ishan Kishan with 33 from 19 balls. Nortje, Rabada, and Stoinis were wicket-takers for DC.

MI chased down DC’s target of 157 in 18. 4 overs and with five wickets to spare and claimed their record fifth title. Rohit’s MI also became the second team after CSK (2010, 2011) to defend their title.
