CSK vs DC, IPL 2021: Twitter goes berserk as MS Dhoni out for 2-ball duck

In the build-up to CSK and DC, the majority of the focus was on MS Dhoni. With Dhoni retired from international cricket, IPL is the only platform where his fans can watch him play.

The fixture between CSK and DC on Saturday (April 10) at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, is the second game of the ongoing IPL 2021.

After being put to bat first on Saturday, Dhoni walked in at 137 for 5. He had Ravindra Jadeja on the other end. Dhoni, on strike, faced two deliveries. On the second one, as Dhoni went to pull it, the ball ended up crashing into the stumps. The CSK skipper departed even before going off the mark!

Dhoni’s two-ball duck was the fourth time Dhoni got out on nought in the IPL. The previous three duck dismissals of Dhoni came against Mumbai Indians (2015), Delhi (2010) and Rajasthan Royals (2010).

Delhi Capitals’ fast bowler Avesh Khan dismissed Dhoni on duck on Saturday. The other bowlers to have done so are Shane Watson (2010), Dirk Nannes (2010), and Harbhajan Singh (2015).

Dhoni has a major fan following among Indians, across the globe. There have been some hilarious reactions on Twitter after Dhoni got out on duck on his first appearance in IPL 2021.

Despite Dhoni’s duck, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) went on to score 188.

Thanks to Raina, Jadeja, and Sam Curran, CSK managed to put up a respectable total.

Dhoni lasted just two balls at the crease on Saturday.

MS Dhoni did a lot of advertisements ahead of the IPL 2021.
