IPL 2021: ‘Captain Aala Re,’ Rohit, other Mumbai Indians stars reach Abu Dhabi
IPL 2021
IPL 2021, which was suspended earlier this year because of surge of covid cases in India, is set to resume in the UAE from Sept. 19.
Mumbai Indians
With four wins and three losses, reigning champions Mumbai Indians (MI) are currently placed fourth in the IPL 2021 points table.
England to UAE
A lot of players that were a part of India’s Test series in England are flying out directly to join their respective franchises ahead of the second leg of IPL 2021.
MI charter three players
“Mumbai Indians flew in three of its Indian contingent members, captain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Suryakumar Yadav, to Abu Dhabi on a private charter flight,” wrote MI in an official release.
Six-day quarantine
“The trio, along with their families, arrived today morning and will now undergo 6 days hard quarantine, starting today as per the IPL’s guidelines. All members had returned negative RT PCR results before departure. A new RT PCR test was undertaken upon arrival at Abu Dhabi, which came out negative as well,” added MI in the release.
Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma was accompanied by his wife Ritika and daughter Samaira. In seven innings, Rohit has scored 250 runs at an average of 35.71. “Aala Re! Welcome home, Ro, Ritika and Sammy,” tweeted MI.
Jasprit Bumrah
Jasprit Bumrah was accompanied by his wife Sanjana Ganesan, who will most likely be covering the tournament as a part of the Star Sports team. “It's BOOM o' clock in Abu Dhabi. Welcome back, JB & Sanjana!“ tweeted MI.
Suryakumar Yadav
The middle-order batsman Suryakumar was accompanied by wife Devisha Shetty. One of the consistent performers for Mi, Suryakumar made his India debut earlier this year and has also been included in India’s T20 World Cup squad.
