IPL 2022: Owners of all 10 teams

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB)
Vijay Malaya bought RCB in 2008; at that time, he was quite a success in his two key businesses, alcoholic beverages company United Spirits and Kingfisher Airlines. Ahead of IPL 2016, he resigned from the post of chairman of United Spirits. At present, RCB is owned by United Spirits Limited, which has the largest market share in terms of alcoholic beverages.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
SRH are owned by SUN TV Group. The company manages a total of 33 TV channels, spanning 6 languages. They also own 67 FM radio stations, 3 daily newspapers, and 6 magazines.
Delhi Capitals (DC)
Ahead of the inaugural edition in 2008, a multinational conglomerate, GMR Group bought Delhi. They manage Infrastructure, Energy, Airports businesses in the country. In 2019, they formed a 50:50 joint partnership with JSW Steel, which is one of the giants in the fields of steel, energy, and minerals.
Punjab Kings (PBKS)
PBKS, formerly known as Kings XI Punjab (KXIP), is jointly owned by:
Mohit Burman: Owns Capital Plc and director of FMCG Brand, Dabur
Karan Paul: Chairman of Apeejay Surrendra Group, which has businesses in tea, hospitality, shipping, retail, and real estate.
Ness Wadia: Successful businessman with multiple ventures
Preity Zinta: Bollywood actress. Owns house PZNZ Media
Rajasthan Royals (RR)
The inaugural champions, RR, are owned by Emerging Media Pvt. Ltd (85%). The remaining percentage belongs to Lachlan Murdoch (13%) and RedBird Capital Partners (15%).
Gujarat Titans (GT)
CVC Capital Partners, a Luxembourg-based private equity and investment advisory firm, having a presence with 24 offices around America, Europe, and Asia, bought GT for INR 5,625 crores ahead of IPL 2022.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)
RP Sanjeev Goenka Group bought LSG at a winning bid of INR 7090 Crores. They have a variety of businesses in the areas of power and energy, carbon black manufacturing, FMCG, media, and entertainment.
Mumbai Indians (MI)
The five-time champions MI are owned by Mukesh Ambani, the chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries. Reliance Industries is a Fortune 500 Global Company and India’s most valuable company in terms of market value.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK)
The leading cement manufacturing company, India Cements bought CSK in 2008. N. Srinivasan is the managing director of India Cements. In 2015, Lodha Committee suspended CSK for two years due to match-fixing. Srinivasan was also banned from the IPL. Subsequently, CSK’s ownership was transferred to Chennai Super Kings Ltd, which is a subsidiary of India Cements and has a total of eight directors.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
The two Bollywood superstars, Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla co-own KKR. In this joint partnership, Red Chillies Entertainment owns a 55% share, while the Mehta Group has a 45% share in the franchise.
