Tata Safari Spotted in Camera, Testing Post Launch-Wrapped in Heavy Camouflage

During the last week of February, 2021 Tata motors launched 2nd generation Safari SUV. All new Tata Safari offers tough competition in its segment, Mahindra XUV50 and MG Hector plus are competitor’s vehicles in this segment.

The all New Tata Safari was first showcased in our nation during last year’s Auto Expo and it was formerly named Gravitas.

Recently, a heavily camouflaged test mule of all new Tata Safari was spotted on Camera. What surprised many is, even after the market arrival of the above vehicle, the manufacturer continues to test the vehicle in the nation.

The test mule spotted on camera was wrapped in heavy camouflage, which usually is not a common sight for variants which are already launched, thus this scenario has put many in confusion.

More likely it could be trying to launch a new variant with slightly tweaked styling. There is also a rumour that manufacturer might introduce petrol version of the SUV.

Yes, there could be another possibility of inclusion of new Powertrain. Harrier-Safari’s 5-seater sibling long wished for petrol engine option as well.

The other reason, the Powertrain could also be tested on the larger safari and manufacturer might be evaluating its chances of this engine to be offered in its SUV lineup. Reports reveal that this new engine might be in-house developed 1.5 litre turbo petrol unit.

Currently, all New Tata Safari is offered with a single Flat sourced 2.0 litre 4 cyclinder kryotec diesel unit which is mated either to a six-speed manual or with six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

The above vehicle produces an output of 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. Presently it is available in six trims; they include XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ and XZ+.

The Vehicle is Priced from Rs 14.69 lakh to 21.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Color options for this vehicle are Royal Blue, Orcus White, Tropical Mist and Daytona Grey.
