Microsoft’s New AI-Powered Windows Era

Windows Gets AI Agents
Microsoft is reshaping Windows around AI agents that can work across files, apps and systems. Its “hybrid intelligence” approach lets tasks run locally or in the cloud, depending on the workload.
AI Agents Get More Control
Microsoft Execution Containers give organisations tighter control over what AI agents can access. The system can restrict an agent’s access to files and networks while it is working.
Copilot Can Work Locally
GitHub Copilot is gaining support for local AI models through Microsoft’s HydraFusion technology. Copilot will also be able to perform tasks such as organising files and troubleshooting PCs with user permission.
New AI PCs Arrive
Microsoft unveiled RTX Spark-powered PCs from brands including Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, MSI and Surface. The machines are designed for demanding local workloads such as AI models, image generation and video creation.
Surface Laptop Ultra Debuts
The new Surface Laptop Ultra offers up to 128GB of unified memory and can run large AI models locally. Prices start at $2,599, while the top configuration reaches $5,899.
Windows Search Gets Smarter
Windows Search will soon handle commands such as switching to dark mode, enabling Do Not Disturb and adjusting the display. Microsoft is also expanding gaming support, with Call of Duty planned for RTX Spark in 2027.
