The actor was born as Ravi Shankar Raju Bhupatiraju in Jaggampet, Andhra Pradesh. However, he spend most part of his early life in Northern India due to his father's occupation. However, Ravi Teja's college life was at Siddhartha degree college in Vijayawada.
Like every other actor, Ravi Teja too went to Chennai with a dream to be a star one day. Ravi Teja too had his share of struggles playing minor roles in movies of Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna and Jagapathi Babu's movies. He later worked as an assistant director for several TV serials and Bollywood projects. It's worth mentioning here that Ravi Teja was an AD to Krishna Vamsi when he was making Nagarjuna's superhit movie Ninne Pelladutha in which Ravi Teja also played a small role. 
The turning point in Ravi's life came in the form of a lead role in Krishna Vamsi's critically acclaimed film Sindhooram which also won a National award. Although he did play significant roles in other movies, Ravi's performance in Srinu Vaitla's Nee Kosam as lead actor won him the Nandi Award for Best Actor Special Jury. 
Later it was Puri Jagnnadh's Itlu Sravani Subramanyam which got him commercial success. This was followed by Idiot, Avunu Valliddaru Ista Paddaru, Khadgam, Amma Nanna O Tamla Ammayi.
Naa Autograph, a remake of the Tamil hit elevated Ravi Teja's star status to the peak. Vikramarkudu and Kick was another movie which re-established Ravi Teja as a talented actor. 
However, of late the actor has had a string of flop movies to his credit and banking big on his next 'Power' which will hit screens tomorrow (12 September 2014).
