The Cyberabad police on Thursday arrested three men for allegedly killing Pravalika, a transgender, on January 16. The victim Kummari Suresh alias Pravalika, 25, of Yellammabanda, was found dead on January 16 in Kukatpally area. Police identified the accused as Kurma Venkat Yadav of Banjara Hills, K Tirumaleshwar Reddy of Indira Nagar and R Rajasekhar Reddy, a native of Anantapur of Andhra Pradesh.

The victim Kummari Suresh alias Pravalika, 25, of Yellammabanda, was found dead on January 16 in Kukatpally area. Police identified the accused as Kurma Venkat Yadav of Banjara Hills, K Tirumaleshwar Reddy of Indira Nagar and R Rajasekhar Reddy, a native of Anantapur of Andhra Pradesh.

According to police, on the fateful day, Venkat along with friends picked up Pravalika from Bhagyanagar Colony and took her to JNNURM Colony. After reaching the place, Venkat demanded money from her. However, the latter refused to give him money and also threatened to expose him to the police. They had a heated argument and in a fit of rage Venkat bludgeoned her to death,” ACP (Kukatpally), N Sanjeeva Rao said.

Meanwhile, members of the transgender community appreciated the sincere efforts of Cyberabad Police. “The arrest of the accused, and the Cyberabad Commissioner taking action against the KPHB Police, who stripped a transgender during Pravalika’s murder investigation, both mark a historic event in the Hijra community which is fighting for dignity and justice,” Bittu Karthik, a member of the community said.
