Noted social reformer and Gandhian Lavanam was selected for the International Humanist Award by Probe Resource Center for Journalists. Lavanam is expected to receive the award in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The Probe Centre had nominated Lavanam for the prestigious award for his contribution to promote human rights and social reforms. The Probe would also be honouring Islamic scholar Moulana Khaled Saifulla Rehemani and social worker Chalasani Rajaramamohana Rao.


The Probe would hold an international convention on ‘Humanists Save Humanity from Terrorism’ at the NTR Auditorium of the Sri Potti Sriramulu Telugu University. Human Rights activist Swami Agnivesh, US-based Indian historian Mark Lindley, Probe chief organiser and former director of Central Bureau of Investigation Joginder Singh and others would be present at the meeting.
