After receiving an overwhelming response from the audience when it aired various heart-whelming stories of shows from Pakistan in India, Zindagi channel is venturing into its first non-fiction property Shukriya, which will premiere on Sunday.

To recognise and honour the spirit of the “uncommon” people who made the life of the common man special, Shukriya, a new reality TV show launched here on Wednesday, is providing a platform to individuals to share stories of their bonding with their loved ones and say "thank you" to them in front of camera.

After receiving an overwhelming response from the audience when it aired various heart-whelming stories of shows from Pakistan in India, Zindagi channel is venturing into its first non-fiction property Shukriya, which will premiere on Sunday.

In sync with the channel’s brand ethos Jodey Dilon Ko -- which means connecting hearts -- the show, hosted by actor Gunjan Utreja, will provide a chance to common people to come on television, share their personal story and say 'thank you' to their loved ones.

“Hosting this show was like a dream come true because I personally felt touched while shooting for every episode. I believe that the more you are grateful in your life, the more you have your life to be grateful for. So, it’s important that we should say ‘thank you’ to the uncommon people, who have made our lives special,” Gunjan said at the launch.

Shot with non-actors across various locations in Mumbai and north India, the 13-episode series will talk about real life relationships and will help individuals in making their loved ones’ lives special.

“The show is designed to urge people to pause life and acknowledge the good things that life has given us… like people who care for us and or the country we live in. It’s about saying ‘thank you’ for all the efforts they have made for us,” Sunil Buch, chief business officer, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL), said.

To give a real feel of the show, a few journalists were asked to call the person, whom they wish to say “thank you” in their life, at the event. Even some journalists’ family members were invited to share their personal life with everybody.

Asked whom he wishes to say “thank you” in his life, Gunjan, who has previously hosted shows like Zindagi Ki Haqeeqat se Aamna Samna and See Taare Mastiii Mein, said “My parents. I’ve had a great support from them in my life. Whatever I am it’s all because of them.” With Shukriya, the channel is aiming to widen its viewership and kickstart its first home production.

“We have been lucky enough to receive such huge response in the one year journey of our channel. We are hoping to find more reach amongst masses with Shukriya. We chose this name for the show as it is very common and lyrical,” Priyanka Datta, business head, Zindagi and FTA Cluster, said.
