Since morning the T activists have tried to stop the traffic in Mahbubnagar district on Hyderabad-Bangalore highway No 44 which has already been taken over by the police. The police arrested the activists at Alampur toll gate when they tried to stage rasta roko on Saturday. The 840 RTC buses were confined to depots. An unidentified person tried to set ablaze the statue of Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy in Gadwal. TRS MLA Jupalli Krishna Rao was arrested at Wanaparthy. Cable operators stopped the telecasting of Seemandhra TV channels in Shadnagar.
In Nalgonda, leaders of TJAC, BJP and TRS staged dharna before the bus depots confining 756 RTC buses to the depots. Police had set up check posts at every 15 kms on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad national highway and arranged escort services to the Seemandhra buses. Rallies were taken out by Telangana activists in Suryapet, Nakirerkal, Miryalaguda, and other parts in the district.
TJAC district chairman G Venkateswarlu, BJP district president Veerelli Chandrasekhar, TRS leader Anil Kumar, Amarendar Reddy and Chada Kishan Reddy when they staged rasta roko at Charlapalli. Nalgonda SP Prabhakar Rao said that there were no untoward incidents in the district.
In Medak, bandh was peaceful. RTC buses remained in the depots. The life has come to standstill at Patancheru, Toopran, Chegunta, Veldurti, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, Dubbaka, Gajwel, Zaheerabad, Narayankhed and other parts of the district. Nizamabad district witnessed rallies and dharnas. Protests were staged in Kamareddy, Bhodan, Armoor and Banswada.
In Khamma, activists of CPI (ML), TRS and CPI and several Telangana protagonists squatted before the bus station here. Coal generation was halted in Singareni. Devotees in Bhadrachalam faced hardships as there was no transport to reach their destination. In Warangal, on the Kakatiya varsity campus a large number of students took to the streets. At the Congress Bhavan the CM’s effigy was burnt.
In Adilabad, bandh was peaceful in Adilabad, Nirmal, Bainsa, Utnoor, Khanapur, Asifabad, Bellampalli, Mandamarri, Ramakrishnapur, Srirampur and Mancherial towns. Employees of Singareni Collieries wore black badges. In Karimnagar, bandh was peaceful and total. There were day-long dharnas in Godavarikhani, Ramagundam, Peddapalli, Jagtial, Korutla, Vemulawada, Sircilla, Huzurabad, Jammikunta and Manakonduru constituencies. The Singareni Collieries employees wore black badges.
