The sources said the team, however, came by helicopter from Hyderabad, took a diversion from Kanchikacharla in Krishna district, crossed the river Krishna and carried out the aerial survey of the region passing through Amaravathi and Mangalagiri. Later, they landed at Gannavaram airport, obviously for refuelling.
In the second phase, the helicopter was spotted covering the island villages along river Krishna, besides Venkatayapalem, Mandadam, Rayapudi and Lingapayalem villages. Later, the team left for Hyderabad from the Gannavaram airport. Meanwhile, the farmers from Mandadam, Rayapudi and Lingayapalem villages stated a protest with black flags against the aerial survey while the helicopter was hovering over the villages. They blamed the officials for not taking their opposition into consideration as far as land pooling scheme for capital city is concerned.
The farmers on the river front are up in arms. They raise three crops a year. They accuse Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of “snatching” their lands and give them away to corporate. Meanwhile, the Mandal Praja Parishad of Tadepalli adopted an unanimous resolution criticising the government’s move to take away their lands for capital city.
The Mandal Parishad general body chaired by its president K Rajyalakshmi adopted the resolution unanimously. Mandal Parishad vice-president B Kanakavalli moved the resolution. It particularly referred to the government’s move to “snatch” lands in Undavalli and Penumaka villages. All the 13 Mandal Parishad Territorial
Constituency (MPTCs) members and the lone Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) member Dandamudi Sailajarani, were present at the meeting. Rajyalakshmi and the ZPTC Sailajarani threatened to approach High Court, if necessary, to combat “onslaught” being carried out on the people by Naidu government.
