Thullur (Guntur): Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday appealed to farmers in the capital region to give their lands by Sankranti to enable him to speed up the land pooling and commence infrastructure building. Naidu, who arrived by a helicopter 90 minutes behind schedule at noon, landed at the ZP School grounds and drove to St Mary Matha High School, the venue of the New Year celebrations/meeting. The meeting, well attended by farmers, hailed Naidu as he spoke for over an hour detailing the genesis of events engineered by the Congress to bifurcate the State for political gains.

Five farmers surrendered their land pattas of 160 acres to Naidu for land pooling. Elated, he said the Singapore Government would soon submit its master plan for the capital building. If land pooling was hastened, the CM assured that in three years he would present to the people a world class capital.

He clarified that despite being armed with the amended provisions of the Land Acquisition Act, his desire was to convince farmers to make sacrifices for the people and for posterity. Overjoyed, at the overwhelming response from farmers, Naidu claimed that he was not selfish in determining the capital region.

"Had I been selfish I would have located the capital in Chittoor district. Thank the stars for the TDP victory in elections; otherwise YSRCP would have taken the capital to Idupulapaya and taken illogical decisions", he asserted. He pleaded with farmers to have faith in him and not allow vested interests to confuse them. He promised justice and multiple benefits to those trusting him with their lands. Decisions that are beneficial to farmers would be taken once they surrender lands to CRDA, Naidu stated.
