The Andhra Pradesh government, which is facing problems in the common capital with the Telangana police slapping ACB cases against TDP MLAs, on Monday transferred the state intelligence chief AR Anuradha and appointed Vijayawada city police commissioner A B Venkateswara Rao in her place.

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government, which is facing problems in the common capital with the Telangana police slapping ACB cases against TDP MLAs, on Monday transferred the state intelligence chief AR Anuradha and appointed Vijayawada city police commissioner A B Venkateswara Rao in her place.


AR Anuradha has been transferred and posted as Director General, Vigilance & Enforcement and Ex-officio Principal Secretary, GAD (V&E) Department relieving R P Thakur from full additional charge. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had expressed displeasure over the failure of the intelligence wing in tracking the moves of the Telangana State’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) which trapped Telugu Desam legislators and also release of the recorded telephonic conversation of the Chief Minister in cash-for-vote case.


He felt that Anuradha should have been alert. He was also unhappy that she had failed to alert the government in regard to phone tapping issue.It was then the Chief Minister had decided to replace her with Venkateswara Rao. Though he wanted to make the changes in June, he could not take up the task due to the MLC election code in force.

As the elections are over, the Chief Minister cleared the transfers before leaving for Japan tour. The government had also posted senior officer Gowtam Sawang as the new commissioner of police for the city.
