The Department of Language and Culture organised a vocal concert of Dwaram Lakshmi at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College in the city on Sunday.
The Department of Language and Culture organised a vocal concert of Dwaram Lakshmi at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College in the city on Sunday. Lakshmi, the granddaughter of violin wizard Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu and daughter of Sangeeta Kalaprapurna Dwaram Bhavanarayana Rao and Veena Vidushi Dwaram Venkata Varadamma, started her vocal concert with `Saraswati Namostute’.
She rendered Shyama Shastri’s composition `Marivere Gathi’ in Ananda Bhairavi ragam and Oothukkadu Venkatasubbier’s composition `Swagatham Krishna’. She chose her own composition on Kanchi Seer `Jayendra Saraswathi Sadgurum Kamakshi Putram’ in Ragamalika as the main item of her concert, which regaled the classical music lovers. The instrumental music support by P Nandakumar on violin and D Anant on mridangam added more flavour to the vocal concert.
