Vijayawada City police goes cashless
Vijayawada city police started to go cashless with their transactions on Thursday to overcome the cash crises being faced by a large number of people.
Vijayawada city police started to go cashless with their transactions on Thursday to overcome the cash crises being faced by a large number of people. The City police entered into MoU with the State Bank of India and Axis Bank. People can avail more than 50 types of services from the police department with the introduction of cashless services.

They can visit the police stations and commissionerate office to avail the services by using the swiping machines. Due to demonetization, a large number of people in the city are struggling due to not availability of small denomination notes and new Rs 2000 notes. In this backdrop, the police department introduced e-transactions.
Commissioner of police Gautham Sawang inaugurated the cashless transactions at the office of the commissionerate on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, he said the department will use swiping machines to collect the penalty for violation of traffic rules and other offences. He said people can pay money online to the police department to get licenses and to get permission for mike services etc. He said e-challan will be replaced by manual challan at the police stations.
He added that the National Payment Corporation of India is rendering assistance to the police department for transforming the department into cashless. He also said that the police department will organise a rally from Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium on Friday morning to create awareness among the people about the cashless transactions.
College students will participate in a large number in the rally that will begin at the IGMC stadium. State Bank of India Regional Manager GV Sastry said that the using of mobile services is safe and appealed to the people to cultivate the habit of cashless transactions. Mobile Apps can be downloaded into mobiles for the cashless transactions.
Axis Bank Assistant General Manager Siva Kumar said that money theft can be prevented if people go for cashless transactions. Bhavya, executive of National Payment Corporation of India, said the NPCI had started cashless services in 2009 but it is not known to the common people. She said customers can get other services like collecting financial statements, balance inquiry etc by using apps.
