With the rising prices of petrol, a lot of people have been converting their cars to CNG because it turns out to be a much cheaper option. Even some automakers have been offering factory-fitted CNG kits on some of their vehicles. Now, Mahanagar Gas Limited has launched the first ever CNG-fitted scooters in the Indian market.

MGL has partnered with Eco Fuel (Lovato’s Indian partner) to launch these scooters here. The CNG kit for two-wheelers comprises of two cylinders of 1.2 kgs each and they can run up to 120-130 kms on a full tank with an average of 90 kms/kg. The cost per km turns out to be a measly Rs 0.60 which is extremely cheap and affordable.

The scooters will get retro-fitted CNG kits manufactured by Lovato. Lovato as well as ITUK have got their CNG kits approved by ARAI, Pune and iCAT Gurgaon respectively.

As of now, 18 scooters have been approved for CNG conversion Hero Duet, Hero Maestro, Hero Pleasure, Honda Activa 125, Honda Dio, Mahindra Duro DZ, Mahindra Gusto, Mahindra Gusto 125, Suzuki Access, Suzuki Let’s, Suzuki Swish, TVS Jupiter, TVS Scooty Zest, TVS Wego, Piaggio Vespa, Yamaha Alpha, Yamaha Fascino and Yamaha Ray.
