Rains cause damage to crops in 6,187 acres in Eluru

Eluru: Divisional Revenue Officer G Chakradhara Rao has  informed that crops in 6,187 acres in Eluru division damaged due to recent rains and flood. He received representations from people on different problems at Meekosam weekly programme at his officer here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, the RDO said that rains and floods during the past 10 days had caused extensive damage to property, especially crops. The damage was extensive in Eluru, Tadepalligudem and Nallajerla mandals of Eluru division. Damage to property and crop was partial in four mandals of T Narsapuram, Lingapalem, Ganapavaram and Unguturu. Horticulture crops in 276 acres were also damaged due to rains, as per primary assessment.

The RDO informed that as per the directives of the government, the loss due to rains and flood would be assessed village-wise. Teams formed by agriculture, horticulture, revenue and housing would submit a detailed report to government after assessing the loss to property and crops.

The RDO said that because of precautionary measures and NDRF efforts, the administration had avoided loss to life. While 165 houses totally damaged, 380 houses were partially damaged in rains and flood. The damaged property would be photographed with the help of an app to avoid irregularities in extending compensation.
