Bhuvanagiri (Nalgonda): Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Palvai Govardhan Reddy asked the party cadre to teach a fitting lesson to the coverts, fence-sitters and persons criticizing party president Sonia Gandhi.
He said that YS Rajashekara Reddy brought discredit to the party by allotting funds on commission basis. He attended the Bhuvanagiri Lok Sabha constituency Congress party workers meet at Jayalakshmi Gardens here on Wednesday.
Congress activists from seven assembly segments under the parliamentary constituency participated in the meet. Govardhan Reddy asserted that the party workers would get due recognition and warned that fence-sitters and coverts in the party would not be spared. He claimed that the Congress party would carve out Telangana.
Suryapet MLA Ramreddy Damodar Reddy said that the Central Government was allotting funds to the MPs and the MLAs for the implementation of various schemes. He said that Congress Party will make a statement on the Telangana issue in 2014. Damodar Reddy said that the Congress party would reward the hardworking party cadre. He claimed that the party strength lied with the party workers. He appealed to the party cadre to ensure the victory of the party cadre in the ensuing Panchayat elections.
Aler MLA Bhikshapati Goud said that he spent Rs 4.5 crore for various developmental works in the constituency. He asked the Bhuvanagiri MP Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy to give the details of the funds spent by the MP in the parliamentary constituency. He alleged that Komatireddy brothers were trying to create differences within the party cadre and were looking for an opportunity to join YSRCP. He claimed that party activists would give a fitting reply to them. He said that the Congress Government played a key role in introducing SC & ST Sub-plan.
Party activists faced several problems due to lack of minimum facilities at the function hall. Due to space crunch several leaders were made to stand. Meanwhile supporters of Komatireddy brothers took out a huge rally in the town in protest against the meet.
